Applying to schools

If your child was born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, they will be eligible to start school in the school year beginning September 2025.

 

Applications for Year R places for September 2025 open on 1st November 2024 and close on 15th January 2025. Please click here to go to Hampshire County Council's website for information on applications, including key dates, schools within your catchment area and how to apply for places.

Most schools have open evenings or open days during the autumn term, when you can visit and see the school in action. Please look at the school’s website for more information or contact the school to make an appointment.

Hampshire County Council has also produced a Ready Steady School leaflet, which provides useful information about starting school. They also run face-to-face, on-line workshops and webinars to help you and your family to prepare for school.
